Keep Music Live!

I’ve really enjoyed playing songs live from my home studio using the fabulous Periscope App. I’ve only done it a couple of times and it’s obviously something I won’t be able to do everyday but when I can, I will. It feels new and exciting. Quite inspiring. I can play my more obscure material, make mistakes, try out ideas, etc. knowing the performances can’t be copied or shared. That’s great cos I’ll end up taking more risks ;-). Yesterday I played, ‘Time The Healer’. It has been a long, long while since I played that tune so Periscope was the perfect outlet for a trial run. For those interested, tomorrow I’m gonna hit it a couple of hours earlier, this is so a few of my European fans can get a look in – plus, catch the American contingent before you go out partying or tucking in to your early Thanksgiving dinners…. that’s 5pm EST (10pm UK time).

By the way, I just had a ‘real’ live solo show announced at The Half Moon, Putney on Friday 29th January 2016. It’s a great venue that has been there for years, still putting on excellent shows with a proper sound system and good lighting. My show is part of the ‘Independent Venue Week’ which in my view is so, so important right now. A friend of mine that works with Ian McNabb (Icicle Works) reckons that venues are going rapidly downhill, in fact he nearly got electricuted recently at one of the venues on the UK circuit. My guess is that we need to go out more and support our local venues, check out anybody and everybody so we keep these precious places open and well equipped. Who knows, you might even like what you see and hear along the way.

All for now pop pickers! Let’s hook up again soon.
