No Membership or User Sign-Ups required:
We do not offer membership, and do not accept user registrations for this website.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Log Data
We want to inform you that whenever you visit our website, we collect information that your browser sends to us that is called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser version, pages of our Site that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, and other statistics. We use this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze our website traffic in order to maintain the service by monitoring page loads and error messages, usage and download statistics.
We also utilize Wordfence for security of our website and its contents. This program uses and monitors information similar to the log data above, to monitor security of the site.
Cookies
We use essential cookies needed to help with navigation and site functionality and monitor usage. These session cookies are used when site ADMINS sign into the website to work on content. Since we do not accept user registrations, or have memberships, or require you to log in, a VISITOR to this website will not have any cookies set by us to simply visit and read this website.
Visitor commenting: If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment, and is OPTIONAL. These cookies will last for one year, should you opt to use them.

Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form (Name, Email Address, Website), and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection (IP address, browser user agent are NOT displayed in comments).

Contact form:
If you contact us by email or by filling-out our contact form, we may keep a record of your contact information and correspondence, and may use your email address, and any information that you provide to us in your message, so that we can respond to you.
You may use the Contact Form to send us an email question, comment, concern, etc. This form collects your email address, name, and message and is sent to us via email as well as stored in our database and not directed through any third party. Your IP address is NOT stored. We use this information provided by you to respond to your comment, question or concern. We do not use your information provided here for any marketing purposes.
You can also contact us directly via regular email. Again, the information you provide in your email will be used only to answer your inquiry and will not be used for any marketing purposes.
Our Mailing List
Our mailing list is run independently from our website, although a link to the signup page is included here. We don’t hound your with excessive emails. In fact, you will here from us only when Simon is on the road making appearances, issuing new product (for sale or FREE download) and for any urgent important news. To sign up for our mailing list, you are directed to our sign-up form hosted at Mailchimp. You select your preference options for how and what type of communications you wish to receive from simontownshend.com news. These can be changed at any time by clicking the ‘update preferences’ at the bottom of every email. You may also unsubscribe using the unsubscribe button at the bottom of every email. You provide your name and email address and optionally you can provide a regular mailing address. We will not release, sell or rent or disclose to any entities or individuals outside of simontownshend.com.
Mailchimp automatically adds tracking things our list emails and contained links, and tracks opens and clicks from those emails – this helps us monitor interest and improve our communications.

Akismet (from Automattic.com) is used for automatic spam detection for our comment section. You can read their privacy policy as it pertains to sites using their services here. We currently use ONLY their Akismet service.
We also have enabled the Gravatar service on this site to display your Gravatar with your comments. Please refer to in our section on comments in this Privacy Policy for details.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. Comments contribute to the post content and conversation.
Most, but not all correspondence with simontownshend.com via email or contact form is also retained indefinitely for reference, business and historical use.
What rights you have over your data
You can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you.
